Mike McCoy is chief executive officer of NCMIC Group, Inc., the holding company parent of the NCMIC companies. NCMIC Group, Inc., is a diversified financial services business. Through its two brands – NCMIC and Professional Solutions – the company has a dominant presence in the malpractice insurance industry and is a leader in the credit card processing industry.
Mr. McCoy is a well-known and respected financial services leader and is the co-author of “It Begs the Question – Learn how the best managers drive performance through Question-Centric Coaching.” Prior to NCMIC, he was most recently the founder and principal of Exponential, LLC, a strategy and leadership development company. Previously, he was the CEO of SpendSmart Payments Company. As CEO of SpendSmart, Mr. McCoy established a new strategic direction for, and rebranded, the company. During Mr. McCoy’s tenure, SpendSmart earned industry recognition as the Best Youth/Student Prepaid card for 2012.
Prior to SpendSmart, Mr. McCoy served as an executive business leader for more than 10 years with Wells Fargo & Company, most recently as president and head of Wells Fargo Consumer Credit Cards where he was responsible for $20 billion in receivables, 4,000 team members and 6.5 million customers. Mr. McCoy led the organization through the financial downturn resulting in the best-in-class performance of any large bank credit card company. In his final year, he led the credit card company to their best financial performance in its history. Mr. McCoy was also a member of the WFC Management Committee.
Mike is a strong believer in giving back to the community. He serves on several boards including ChildServe, UnityPoint Health Foundation, Principal Charity Classic, Grand View University Board of Trustees, and the Greater Des Moines Partnership. From 2009-2015 he served on the United Way of Central Iowa Board of Directors, including serving as a member of their Executive Committee and chairing their Income Cabinet. Previous community support involved serving on the Oakridge Neighborhood Services Board and the Salisbury House Foundation Board. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Missouri State University.
