MSK Ultrasound

The use of musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK US) has grown substantially over the past two decades. A study examining MSK US utilization between 2003 and 2015 reported a 347% increase in volume across various healthcare disciplines, including medicine, chiropractic, physical therapy, and podiatry. The growing adoption of MSK ultrasound can be attributed to its portability, superior spatial resolution for superficial soft-tissue structures compared with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), real-time dynamic assessment capabilities, and absence of ionizing radiation. Collectively, these attributes position MSK ultrasound as a transformative diagnostic modality that enhances clinical decision-making and patient care across diverse healthcare settings.

Seminar Agenda

Our MSK Ultrasound program is structured into two days, with three instructors (one instructor per eight attendees).

Attendance is mandatory for all sessions to ensure you receive full credit.

Location: Parker University Campus

  • Friday, January 23: 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Saturday, January 24: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Instructor: Dr. John Cho

Dr. Cho earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan University in 2006. He subsequently completed a three-year residency and a 1.5-year fellowship in Diagnostic Imaging at Logan University, with a specific focus on musculoskeletal ultrasound. He later pursued additional training through a Visiting Fellowship in musculoskeletal ultrasound at the renowned Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.

He holds the RMSK Pioneer Certificate, awarded to clinicians who achieved the Registered in Musculoskeletal Sonography (RMSK) credential during its inaugural administration in 2012.

Dr. Cho’s research interests center on musculoskeletal ultrasound and diagnostic imaging. He has published numerous original studies and case reports, including work on normative data for the greater occipital nerve with cadaveric correlations, ultrasound-guided palpation, and a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

He currently serves as the course director for Clinical Imaging and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound courses at Parker University.

Instructor: Joshua Wells

Dr. Joshua Wells is a board-certified chiropractic radiologist specializing in musculoskeletal imaging and diagnostic ultrasound. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and Bachelor of Science from Parker University, where he later completed a rigorous radiology residency and achieved Diplomate status through the American Board of Chiropractic Radiology. He also holds RMSK certification in musculoskeletal sonography.

Dr. Wells currently serves as a radiologist for Parker University Clinics, where he supports diagnostic imaging operations and student interns. His clinical and academic interests include complex musculoskeletal pathology, and he has presented original work at ACCRAC, including a platform presentation on congenital intermittent medial meniscal dislocation.

Instructor: Kyle Hackney

Kyle Hackney is a sonographer who holds the RDMS and RVT certifications, specializing in diagnostic imaging in vascular surgery, general ultrasound and ultrasound physics. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from Texas A&M University-Commerce before attending Parker University to undergo training as a sonographer.

His clinical and academic specialties include ultrasound imaging of thoracic outlet syndrome and other complex neurovascular pathology. As well, he serves as a liaison of the Parker University sonography department with multiple hospital groups around the DFW area to educate sonography departments on Transcranial Duplex Imaging.

Kyle currently serves as a faculty member for the Parker University Diagnostic Sonography program, where he serves as their vascular imaging specialist.
